The showpiece “close-out” event of the 2022 show season, as always, was the NEC Classic Motor Show (staged between Friday 11th November and Sunday 13th November).

The Club’s stand was located in Hall 8 – the smallest hall used but the one which housed all the Ford car clubs.

2022 was the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Facelift Mk1 and our stand very much celebrated that milestone.  We displayed a Diamond White 3000GXL along with a Daytona Yellow 1600XL (both facelift examples) and finally a Sapphire Blue 1600XL pre-facelift for comparison.

Our bright tangerine carpet certainly made the display stand out.  Indeed the shows club organiser commented that we were one of two stand out stands in the entire show.

Back to back with us were our friends from the Capri Mk2 Register and just across the gangway from them was the CCI stand (once again presented by the Mansfield & Nottingham branch).  The latter featured an early 1300L in Blue Mink (owned by one of our Club members) and an Orange replica Perana race car.  These weren’t the only places to spot Mk1s though.  The AVO Owners stand featured one of our members cars – a Modena Green RS3100 and in the auction were an Evergreen 3000E, which sold for under £20,000, and a Bright Orange Custom Car.  Yet another Mk1 appeared in the form of an ex rally example.

A good show for our Club as we once again recruited a host of new members and sold many calendars.

Attendance, at a little under 70,000 for the three days was around the same as 2021 and 2019 (pre-Covid).

The gallery hopefully gives you a flavour of our stand in particular and the other Mk1s on show.
