Glorious sunshine at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon for the Old Ford Rally on Sunday 19th July. Quite a contrast to the 2025 event where it managed to rain for most of the day. The sunshine brought out 11 superb examples onto the Club stand. What a fabulous, colourful display we had and quite a range of models too - from humble 1600Ls right the way up to a thundering 5 litre Perana and many variants in between.
We've had a stand at the show every year since its inception but this time around the Capri Club International decided to declare the event their National Day, which added to the number of Capris in general on show. Clearly we must have dominated the Mk1 contingent though as three of our members cars picked up awards from CCI.
The facilities at Gaydon are among the best on the summer show circuit. Whilst most were parked on the tarmac, we were allocated a spot on the grass. I say grass, as you can see in the pictures, it more resembled straw as a result of the heatwave. A bit of an uneven location but in some ways that benefited us as many of the cars were visible from the tarmac.
The museum itself contains a Ferguson 4x4 facelift Mk1 (the green car indoors). As well as that there were a number of Mk1s - some owned by Club members - dotted around the show areas.
If you had a broader love of classic vehicles than just Fords, then the top car parks featured a display of old Rootes cars and commercials.
All in all, a great day out and lovely to catch up with Club members.
