Cheshire based Rob
bought
his Capri in February 2009 from a car dealer in Cannock who had obtained the car
after it had spent 15 years dry stored.
The dealer
started doing it up for his son, who then decided he didn't want it! So
Rob bought it and after a year has now finished off what he had started .
Rob had
been after a Capri like this, a red 1300L, for a while. The first one he had was
a brand new one bought for £662 in 1970 when he was serving in the forces in
Germany. The registration number he recalls was EN 124B (a British Forces
Germany registration). Much to his regret he had to sell it when he was
posted to Northern Ireland and he's been hankering after one ever since.
Circumstances though, and money, did not allowed him to get another one up until
now. When this one came up - the right colour, spec and local to him - he
had to have it.
The cost of
the project was far more than the value of the car - nothing unusual there - but
it's just passed it's MOT and so is ready for the 2010 show season.
