BHJ292K - 1300XL v4 - Saarlouis made left hooker

James, from the the Braintree area of Essex, has a number of Mk1 capris.  This one, whilst perhaps not exceptionally eye catching at first sight, is a bit special for UK admirers of the marque.   You won't very often come across a left hand drive car here and are even less likely to see a 1300 V4 in such exceptionally good original condition.  It may not be the fastest car on the road but then again if he went fast James would deprive all the admirers of a long clear view of this early Saarlouis product.

Another lovely example from James' collection is this tawny 1600GT XLR sporting the optional anti-dazzle black paintwork on its bonnet.  Perhaps not the most inspiring colour to appear on the capri bodyshell, tawny was nevertheless extremely popular in its day and was one of the best selling colours.  As a consequence, many of the cars that come available today are finished in tawny - a point James is only too well aware of as he has yet another car in his collection finished in the same shade.

Despite looking the same as UK spec lights, the European ones are different.
