DPN710K - 1600GT XLR -
Commercial star
Eddie's dream capri is an archetype daytona yellow 1600GT XLR. He
purchased it from a dealer in May 2005. A month earlier it was "starring"
in a soon to be aired TV commercial for Nobby's Nuts - one of a series of snacks
being advertised by Slade frontman Noddy Holder.
Eddie, from Ware in Hertfordshire, has owned capris before but hankered after
a Mk1. As a result of the cars commercial stardom, it had its own stand at
the Alexandra Palace indoor classic car show in March and is soon to feature in
Practical Classics magazine. The car has had four previous owners and has
covered 95,000 miles. Eddie is well aware that it has a few
non-original features and is busy collecting the parts to return it to the way
it was when Ford assembled it.

The car has rostyle wheels but Eddie would like to get some spotlights fitted - once he can find some! |

UPDATE JULY 2008
As stated earlier, Eddie is aware his car has some "non-original"
features. He's now put a few of those right but, as with all hobbies, it
will take time to sort everything.
The new pictures below show some of the changes made - including the period
driver!

Well the car was an early seventies icon - not sure about the driver though! |

Gone are the Mk2 style seats replaced by the correct GT Mk1 recliners. Eddie's also invested in some new door cards. |

A "proper" air filter looks so much better than the pancake one - interestingly, the car runs better now too. |
