TDK200J - 3000GT XLR - with its original owner
In May 1971 commercial vehicle enthusiast Brian and his wife Linda, from
Bedfordshire, decided to
buy a new car. They set their hearts on a 3000GT XLR Capri and the colour
they decided on was pacific blue. However, they were a few pounds short of
the asking price (around £1400 then) and so, impatient to have the vehicle, went
for a dealer offer on a 3 month old demonstrator of the same model but in
aquatic jade.
The car did get used regularly but Linda didn't live too far from work so not
many miles got added. Indeed in the ensuing 36 and a bit years the car has
in fact covered just under 22,000 miles. She did need a bit of restoration
work but Brian's own skills and contacts kept the cost of that down at
reasonable levels. She's original in every way except the rear infill
panel which Brian admits he liked on the 3000E model. Check out that
lovely tan interior - even the drivers seat look like new.
